ELSA provides easy access to daily European natural gas storage and LNG data published through GIE’s AGSI, ALSI and IIP Transparency Platforms. By bringing key transparency data together in a convenient mobile format, the app helps users follow developments across Europe’s gas infrastructure.
The app extends GIE’s established transparency services through a mobile-friendly, user-focused interface. Functionality and data coverage will be expanded in future app iterations.

The data behind ELSA
AGSI (Aggregated Gas Storage Inventory) and ALSI (Aggregated LNG System Inventory), the direct data sources for ELSA, are publicly accessible transparency platforms that provide daily European gas storage and LNG data free of charge. Established in 2007 and 2013 respectively, AGSI and ALSI are well-recognised industry transparency initiatives created by European gas infrastructure operators. Together, they cover 100% of EU27 storage and LNG infrastructure operators and provide more than ten years of historical data.
ELSA also provides direct access to IIP (Inside Information Platform) data. IIP is a central industry platform through which gas infrastructure operators disclose UMMs (Urgent Market Messages).
All ELSA data is provided directly to GIE by more than 120 infrastructure operators across more than 27 countries under the REMIT regulatory regime. No external data sources or data collection are used.
Who is ELSA for?
AGSI, ALSI, IIP and ELSA are designed for policy stakeholders, analysts and journalists covering European gas storage and LNG developments, as well as industry organisations and official bodies. Their data are critical for monitoring security of supply in the European market and have demonstrated their value over many years. ACER (the European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators) also uses these data for market monitoring.
All AGSI, ALSI and IIP data are available free of charge through an API service. They are also distributed and repackaged through major information-broker platforms.
Data quality, hosting and free access
As the only transparency platforms offering full pan-European coverage, AGSI, ALSI and IIP have become leading industry information sources for these types of data. Reporting is based on operators’ regulatory obligations under REMIT (Regulation on Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency), supporting the quality, timeliness, accuracy and completeness of the data made available through GIE’s platforms.
All data is hosted and processed within the European Union. ELSA is distributed globally and information is available in English.
Data access and provision remain free of charge. Functionality and data coverage will be expanded in future app iterations.

Is ELSA free to use?
Yes. Access to the transparency data is free of charge. AGSI, ALSI and IIP data are also available through an API service.
Do I need an account or login?
No. No account or login credentials are required to access ELSA data.
Does ELSA work differently across regions?
No. ELSA functions consistently across all regions. Information is available in English only.
Where does the information come from?
ELSA brings together information published through GIE’s AGSI (Aggregated Gas Storage Inventory), ALSI (Aggregated LNG System Inventory) and Inside Information Platform (IIP). Data are supplied directly to GIE by infrastructure operators under REMIT.
How frequently is the information updated?
AGSI and ALSI provide daily European gas storage and LNG data. Urgent Market Messages are disclosed through IIP. Consult the timestamps and the source platforms for the latest published information.
What if data are unavailable or appear incorrect?
Check the relevant source platform and the publication timestamp. If the issue persists, contact gie@gie.eu with the affected country or facility, the date and a screenshot where possible.
How can I report a technical issue or send feedback?
Email gie@gie.eu for iOS or Android support, feedback and feature requests. Include your device model, operating-system version, ELSA app version and a description of the issue.
Which devices and operating systems are supported?
ELSA requires iOS 17.5 or later or Android 14 or later. Check the official app-store listing for supported devices.
